Kenya–Malaysia Ties Strengthened: New Openings for AAMECC Members
Last week, Kenya hosted the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for an official state visit with President William Ruto in Nairobi. During the visit, the two countries agreed to upgrade their relationship to a Strategic Partnership and signed agreements in trade, air services, housing, technology and education.
For businesses, this means better access to each other’s markets, fewer trade barriers, and improved flight connections between Nairobi and Kuala Lumpur in the future. Kenyan exports such as tea, coffee, flowers and other products will have a stronger pathway into Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.
The visit also included a Malaysia–Africa higher education forum in Nairobi, with new cooperation on universities, TVET, scholarships and skills development. This supports AAMECC’s goal of linking trade, investment and skills between Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Linked to AAMECC’s Forthcoming Malaysia Tour
In line with this new Strategic Partnership, AAMECC is organizing the Malaysia Rich Culture & Investment Tour in Kuala Lumpur from 15–18 December 2025.
During the tour, delegates will:
- Meet Malaysian business leaders, investors and chambers of commerce
- Explore opportunities in manufacturing, halal trade, tourism, education and technology
- Experience Malaysia’s rich culture while building practical B2B and B2G connections
This tour gives our members a timely platform to turn the new Kenya–Malaysia agreements into real partnerships and deals on the ground.
